EPA Using Toyota Developed System to Clean Up Toxic Waste

Several officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is utilizing a system developed by Toyota to accelerate cleanup at toxic waste sites.

However some at the EPA are concerned it could guard polluting companies avoid a full cleanup.

The system is known as "lean". It was created by the automaker Toyota to clean up waste on factory floors. 

The core idea is to maximize customer value while minimizing waste. Simply, lean means creating more value for customers with fewer resources.
