Scott Pruitt the head of the US Environmental Protection Agency has resigned.

Trump said via Twitter that he had accepted his resignation.

He served as the fourteenth Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency from February 17, 2017 to July 6, 2018.

Due to the multiple ongoing scandals in which Pruitt has been embroiled, at least 20 members of Congress, including three Republicans (Carlos Curbelo, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Elise Stefanik), called for Pruitt's resignation.

Pruitt was facing several federal and congressional investigations for security spending, overspending on flights and a condo lease.

As head of the EPA, Pruitt said that carbon dioxide emissions from human activity are not the primary cause of climate change.
