Environment Canada's Forecasts to Become More Accurate

Over the next six years Canada will see an additional 14 radars added to Environment Canada's radar network.

The fist new radar will be installed this fall.

Currently there are 31 radars in the national network.

Last year the government also awarded a contract to design a state-of-the-art, high-performance supercomputer.

This new additions will assist meteorologists distinguish between rain, snow, hail and freezing rain, and to detect tornadoes more easily.
