EF-0 Tornado in Quebec

Environment Canada has confirmed an EF-0 tornado in Maniwaki, Quebec. 

Thunderstorms developed over the Outaouais and Abitibi areas.

There were numerous damages reported, most of them in the northern part of the city. Reports include several trees were snapped or uprooted in a golf club, near a cycling path, in a park and in urban areas. Some trees fell on buildings. 

Roofs of homes and businesses were damaged by the wind in the northern part of the city. 

A brick wall from a commercial buildings collapsed. 

Part of an aluminium siding was ripped by the wind at a another business. 

Also, a video showing a funnel cloud that appeared to touch the ground was taken near Maniwaki. Eyewitnesses confirmed the occurrence of a tornado in the area where the damages occurred. 

The winds were likely between 90 and 130 km/h. This is the first official tornado of the 2016 season in Quebec.
