Earthquake Generates Tsunami Fears

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck 30 km southwest of Burias, Philippines at 8:23 pm UTC on Friday.

Although the tsunami threat from this earthquake has long since passed, tsunami waves reaching 0.3 to 1 meters above the tide level were possible for some coasts of the Philippines.

Tsunami waves were also possible in Indonesia, Malaysia, Palau, and Yap.
