Drenching for Newfoundland

Posted by on Friday, April 8, 2016

Well it looks like Newfoundland is finally getting those April showers we've heard so much about.

For much of the west coast 25 to 50 mm of rain is possible for some locations.

Along the southwest coast locally 75 mm of rain is possible.

Across the Cabot Strait wind will southwest 15 to 20 knots near noon on Saturday. With wave heights of 3 to 4 metres. As a result Marine Atlantic has changed departures times. The North Sydney to Port aux Basques run scheduled for 11:45 am is now scheduled to depart 5:00 pm. The Port aux Basques to North Sydney crossing scheduled for 11:45 is now scheduled to depart at 5:00 pm as well.

Heavy rain will also continue today across the Quebec Lower North Shore where 60 mm is possible.
