Did You See It This Morning?

The first full moon of the year is known as the Full Wolf Moon.

In Native American and early Colonial times, that is the term given for the first full moon in January.

It has such a name because wolves howled in hunger outside the villages.

Sometimes it was also referred to as the Old Moon, or the Moon After Yule. Some called it the Full Snow Moon, but most tribes applied that name to the next Moon.
