A group of nine explorers, headed by Jeremy Bruns and Kathleen Graham, have discovered the deepest cave in Canada.

Known as Bisaro Anima, the cave can only be reached by helicopter.

It is an astonishing 5.3 kilometres long and 670 metres deep. The longest shaft found is 105 metres.

The cave is located north of Fernie British Columbia.

Caves form in rock that is soluble; most occur in limestone, but they can also form in other rocks.
