So far 215 people have died after Tropical Cyclone Idai hit Mozambique, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.

Idai caused severe flooding throughout Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.

Heavy rains fell across much of eastern Zimbabwe as the cyclone meandered along the nation's border with Mozambique.

The heaviest rains fell in the Chimanimani District, with accumulations reaching 200–400 mm.

Nearly 90 percent of the city of Beira has been damaged or destroyed.

Mozambique's president said the death toll will likely rise to over 1,000.

The United Nations and their partners appealed for $40.8 million as emergency relief to help those people who were affected by Idai in Mozambique.
