Daily High Temperature Records Set As Heat Continues in Newfoundland

Summer is far from over in parts of Newfoundland.

Several areas broke temperature records on Saturday.

Badger 
New record of 28.5 
Old record of 28.3 set in 1961 
Records in this area have been kept since 1956 

Twillingate 
New record of 25.8 
Old record of 25.6 set in 2008 
Records in this area have been kept since 1950 

Winterland 
New record of 25.8 
Old record of 25.3 set in 2016 
Records in this area have been kept since 1970

Heat warnings remain in effect for Bay of Exploits, Bonavista North, Bonavista Peninsula, Clarenville and vicinity, Gander and vicinity, Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity, and Terra Nova.

Daytime highs in the high 20's and humidex values in the low to mid 30's will linger until mid-week at least.

Steps to take to stay cool:
  • Stay in an air-conditioned indoor location as much as possible.
  • Drink plenty of fluids even if you don't feel thirsty.
  • Schedule outdoor activities carefully.
  • Take cool showers or baths to cool down.
