Cyclone Kills at Least 12 in India

Twelve people have lost their lives in India after Cyclone Ockhi hit the region with strong wind and heavy rain.

Additionally 200 fishermen needed to be rescued as the powerful storm battered the area.

There are 22 fishermen still missing.

Power was knocked out in multiple towns and 1,000 people were evacuated.

Indian president Ram Nath Kovind said, "thoughts with families, especially children, in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep, other regions affected by rains & cyclonic conditions. Confident local authorities, emergency services & civil society will rise to occasion. And that citizens will help one another."
