There is a small problem with the Oroville dam in California.

Officials say that there are hairline cracks in the dam.

The spillway was recently repaired.

At the present time the cracks are not a concern according to state officials.

Robert Bea from the University of California argues otherwise. He says that it's incorrect to expect high-strength reinforced concrete to crack as the spillway did.

The spillway was destroyed in major flooding in February.

Oroville Dam is an earthfill embankment dam on the Feather River east of the city of Oroville, California, in the Sierra Nevada foothills east of the Sacramento Valley.
