Corpus Christi declares flood emergency

The city of Corpus Christi declared a flood emergency on Monday as severe thunderstorms pushing though the region dropped up to one foot (300 mm) of rain over parts of Southern Texas over the weekend.

Emergency personnel were kept busy conducting several water rescues early Monday morning. There were no reports of injuries.

Corpus Christi is home to 320,434 residents.

Over the area on Tuesday it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 87. However Corpus Christi is expected to see rain throughout the week.
