Conditions Favorable for Development of Tropical Low

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Thursday, August 30, 2018

As we approach the peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season the National Hurricane Center is watching an area of disturbed weather.

The area in question is an area of low pressure that is associated with a tropical wave.

It is forecast to form between the coast of Africa and the Cabo Verde Islands on Thursday.

At this time conditions appears to be favorable for development, and a tropical depression is likely to form by the weekend.

The system is expected to move westward near the Cabo Verde Islands and the adjacent Atlantic.

This system is expected to bring rains and gusty winds to those islands in two or three days, and interests in that region should monitor the progress of this disturbance.

The formation chance through 48 hours is at 40 percent. Formation chance through 5 days is high at 70 percent.
