Jupiter is known to its Great Red Spot. It is a persistent zone of high pressure, producing an anticyclonic storm south of the equator. It has been continuously observed for 187 years, since 1830.

Now astronomers say they have discovered another spot on Jupiter. It is a dark cold spot. It has been named the Great Cold Spot.

Experts say that the spot possibly powered from the auroras.

This spot is also very different from the Great Red Spot. The Great Cold Spot changes quickly in both shape and size over just a few days and weeks. It also may continually reform itself.

The spot is about -73 degrees Celsius. Making it colder than the atmosphere around it.
