It takes a lot of snow for a city around the Great Lakes to declared a snow emergency, but for one City is Pennsylvania, officials had no choice.

On Christmas Day Erie, Pennsylvania received an astonishing 120 cm of snow in a 24-hour period.

A lake-effect snowband is what dumped the enormous amount of snow over the city.

No doubt this destroyed the previous snowfall record.

But the snow didn't stop there... it continued into Tuesday.

By the time all was said and done on Wednesday morning there was a total snowfall amount 165.3 cm.
