Cat 4 Hurricane to Slam Mexico

Hurricane Patricia now a powerful category 4 hurricane is expected to slam into Mexico's west coast near Puerto Vallarta on Friday afternoon, packing winds of near 225 km/h.

The storm is expected to continue to strengthen Friday.

Patricia is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 150 to 300 mm over the Mexican states of Jalisco, Colima, Michoacan and Guerrero into Saturday. These rains could produce life-threatening flash floods and mud slides.

Significant coastal flooding near and to the right of where the center makes landfall. Near the coast, the surge will be accompanied by large and destructive waves.
