Canadian Coast Guard Headed to Ship aground in Nunavut and Taking on Water

One Oceans Expeditions has confirmed that its ship, the Akademik Ioffe, has run aground in the western Gulf of Boothia.

Two Canadian Coast Guard icebreakers are en route to assist the ship.

Akademik Ioffe is taking on water but remains stable at this time.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

The company says there is no environmental concern.

Akademik Ioffe is modern and ice strengthened. The ship carries 96 passengers and a crew of 65.
