Calgary Sets Snow Record

The City of Calgary has broken a snowfall record.

The city has the highest snowfall depth recorded on February 9. 

Snow began on Wednesday evening and continued through Thursday.

About 15 cm was dumped on Calgary in that time.

The greatest recorded snowfall on February 8 is 19.3 cm in 1888. The most snow on the ground was 23 cm in 1978, Environment Canada said.

The snow caused several traffic problems with Calgary Police reporting over 100 collisions between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday.
