A wildfire at the Burns Bog Delta Nature Reserve, in British Columbia is causing quite a stink... literally.

Close to 100 firefighters are battling the blaze.

The smoke and smell from the fire has been seen throughout the Vancouver area. The fire caused a highway closure and a partial evacuation.

The Burns Bog is a peat bog. Peat is a brown, soil-like material characteristic of boggy, acid ground, consisting of partly decomposed vegetable matter. It is widely cut and dried for use in gardening and as fuel.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

It will continue to be windy over the next few days.
