As the weather warms up and we look forward to diving into the pool. However officials are now warning about a difficult-to-kill parasite found in public pools that can make you very sick.

Cryptosporidium is a parasitic alveolates that can cause a respiratory and gastrointestinal illness that primarily involves watery diarrhea with or without a persistent cough in both immunocompetent and immunodeficient humans.

The parasite is transmitted through fecal matter from an infected person.

In fact last year alone there were 1,940 reports of people getting sick.
