Atlantic Canada Braces for Another System

An area of low pressure is spreading some rain across the Maritime Provinces.

That rain will move into Newfoundland Thursday night into Friday.

Heavy rainfall is expected for portions of Nova Scotia and portions of New Brunswick. Some areas may receive as much as 40 mm of rain.

Heavy Rain is also expected along the south coast and portions of the West Coast of Newfoundland Thursday night into Friday.

Along the south coast of Newfoundland 30 mm is possible. The West Coast could pick up 10 to 20 mm of rainfall.

Strong winds are also expected. For most of Nova Scotia gusts to 100 km/h are possible. In the Wreckhouse area of Newfoundland gusts to 140 km/h are possible by Thursday evening and wind will gust to 100 km/h along the West Coast and the remainder of the South Coast of Newfoundland.

There was also the risk of seeing some non severe thunderstorms across Mainland Nova Scotia and portions of Prince Edward Island on Thursday. The main threats are heavy downpours and strong winds.
