Another cold night across the Prairies

Posted by on Saturday, January 16, 2016

Saturday night was another frigid one across the Prairies prompting Environment Canada to issue Extreme Cold Warning's once again for eastern Alberta, most of Saskatchewan, and southern Manitoba.

Extreme wind chill values of -40 or colder were expected.

A ridge of high pressure is sending cold arctic air over southern Saskatchewan as it builds over the province.

Exposure to the cold can be hazardous or even life-threatening. Your body's extremities, such as the ears, nose, fingers and toes, lose heat the fastest.

Wind chill values this low can cause exposed skin can freeze in 5 to 10 minutes.

Temperatures are expected to moderate Monday or Tuesday.
