Analysis on Tuesday's System

Posted by on Monday, December 26, 2016

An area of low pressure will plow through the Great Northern Peninsula on Tuesday.

There is little disagreement on the track of the low between model runs.

All of Newfoundland will see snow to start. For all of Newfoundland, with the exception of the Great Northern Peninsula, snow will likely turn to rain.

On the Great Northern Peninsula precipitation is expected to remain as snow. Parts of the region could pick up 20 to 30 cm of snow.

Elsewhere across Newfoundland snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm is the general consensus.

Rainfall amounts will generally not exceed 5 mm.

Strong winds will accompany this system, especially in the Wreckhouse area where wind gusts up to 100 km/h is possible.
