All About Air Masses

Posted by on Thursday, November 24, 2016

An air mass is a body of air with horizontally uniform temperature, humidity, and pressure.

Different air masses tend to be separated by frontal boundaries.

Arctic, Antarctic, and polar air masses are cold. Whereas tropical and equatorial air masses are hot as they develop over lower latitudes.

Air masses cover many hundreds or thousands of square kilometers, and adapt to the characteristics of the surface below them.
