Alberta Snow Rain Totals

Alberta is no stranger to snow. Snow in May ins't all that uncommon. 30 cm is a bit uncommon!

The Alberta Elbow region was painted white by mammoth amounts of snowfall.

Environment Canada said, "the precipitation began late in the evening of May 18th and continued until the afternoon of May 20th. The precipitation started as heavy rain and switched to snow the afternoon of May 19."

The prolonged event made for some impressive snow totals:
North of Peace River: 28 cm
Peace River Airport: 18 cm
Grimshaw: 30 cm
Nampa: 12 cm
Spirit River: 15-25 cm
Rycroft: 15-20 cm
Little Smoky: 15 cm
Whitecourt Airport: 12 cm

There was also some heavy rain as well:
Red Earth: 27 mm
Flattop Lookout: 33 mm
Grande Cache: 38 mm
Whitecourt Airport: 40-50 mm
Barrhead: 30 mm
St. Albert: 25-35 mm
Edmonton Blatchford: 26 mm
Edmonton International: 30 mm
Edmonton Stony Plain: 20-30 mm
Breton Plots: 20-30 mm
