Experts have declared that there are 68 high-rise buildings in San Francisco that are prone to cracking in a major earthquake.

All of the buildings were built between 1964 and 1989 and were constructed using steel skeletons that was found susceptible to breaking during an earthquake.

The report compiled by the Tall Buildings Safety Strategy said that building could be constructed to a higher standard.

In the 1994, a 6.7 magnitude earthquake in Los Angeles proved that the moment-frame welds are not reliable during an earthquake.
