6.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Fiji

A powerful 6.6 magnitude earthquake has struck Fiji.

The earthquake was centered 275.9 km east of Levuka, Fiji and was at a depth of 551 km.

It was also felt in nearby Tonga.

There are no reports of any Tsunami warning being issued.

The eastern margin of the Australia plate is one of the most sesimically active areas of the world due to high rates of convergence between the Australia and Pacific plates.
