6.1 Earthquake Shakes Taiwan

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake shook parts of Taiwan on Sunday.

The earthquake was centered 17 km north-northeast of Hua-lien, Taiwan at a fairly shallow depth of 7 km.

It was followed by seven tremors, the strongest recorded at a magnitude of 5.8.

There were no reports of injury or damage.

Earthquakes frequently rattle Taiwan, but most are minor and cause little or no damage.
