Matanuska-Susitna Borough Animal Care in Northern Alaska is looking for a missing 5-metre albino Burmese python that weighs 50 kilograms.

The snake went missing from a home.

Although that type of snake is usually easygoing and timid, if provoked it can pose a risk to pets and small children.

Its diet consists primarily of appropriately sized birds and mammals. The snake uses its sharp rearward-pointing teeth to seize its prey, then wraps its body around the prey, at the same time contracting its muscles, killing the prey by constriction.

Should you see the snake call 911 immediately.
