A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck the New Britain region of Papua New Guinea on Monday.
The earthquake stuck at a depth of 5 km, 210.2 km south-southeast of Kokopo, Papua New Guinea.
The Australia-Pacific plate boundary is over 4000 km long on the northern margin, from the Sunda (Java) trench in the west to the Solomon Islands in the east.
