Authorities have confirmed that 430 people are dead and more than 1,400 injured after a a tsunami struck Indonesia's Java Island late last Saturday.

The tsunami may have been triggered by an underwater landslide following an eruption of the Anak Krakatau volcano.

Residents were warned to stay away from the coast over fears that weather and volcanic activity could trigger a new tsunami.

159 people were still missing.

The military and volunteers are searching through debris.
