3 Things to Know About The Weather This Week

Posted by on Sunday, April 23, 2017

Here are three things you should know about the weather in Newfoundland this week.

Warming Up
The good news is that as soon as tomorrow temperatures will begin to moderate. Temperatures could hit the double digits on the Avalon on Monday. The normal high for St. John's on Monday is 6.6°C.  Central Newfoundland could see a similar set up with highs near 10 expected. The normal high in Gander is 6.8°C for Monday. On the west coast, we may have to wait until midweek to see a significant warm up.

Turning Unsettled Wednesday Through Friday
It appears as though an area of low pressure will be west of Newfoundland on Wednesday before spreading rain across the Island through Friday. During the overnight hours on Thursday we cannot rule out the possibility of freezing rain. Labrador will likely see a rain/snow mix.

The Long Range Looks Good
Long range models indicate that temperatures will continue to trend upwards as we head into the first week of May. So it looks like we may be seeing more balmy weather!
