21 Horses Die at Racetrack

California's Santa Anita race track has been closed after 21 horses died in the past two months.

Officials will be examining the tracks' dirt surface. All racing protocols will also be looked at.

The heavy rains may be to blame for the horses' deaths.

With heavy rain, the dirt track can turn muddy in a short amount of time.

There is no time frame when training and racing will resume.

Santa Anita Park is a Thoroughbred racetrack in Arcadia, California, United States. It offers some of the prominent horse racing events in the United States during the winter and in spring.
