21 From School Trip Dead After Flooding

Officials have said that at least 21 people on a private school trip died in flash flooding near the Dead Sea. Of the 21 victims, Thirteen were middle school children.

The group, from Amman, was visiting hot springs when the floods struck.

Heavy rain swept away the group.

One person remains missing.

The group took a break at a hot springs several kilometers from the Dead Sea.

When the rain came it dragged some of the victims to the Dead Sea.

The incident cause a large response from helicopters, divers, sniffer dogs and hundreds of searchers. Israel also dispatched a rescue team after a request of the Jordanian government.

Flooding is common in the Dead Sea.
