2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season Summary

As predicted the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season was quiet. There were only 11 names storms. Ana, Bill, Claudette, Danny, Erika, Fred, Grace, Henri, Ida, Joaquin, and Kate. There were 4 hurricanes and 2 major hurricanes.

The first storm, Ana, formed before the season even started May 8, 2015.

Six to eleven named storms were predicted, of those three to six, three were expected to become hurricanes and zero to two were expected to be major hurricanes.

The main factor that suppressed the hurricane season was El Niño, which affected wind and pressure patterns, and lasted through the hurricane season.

There were 88 direct and 2 indirect fatalities and $590.7 million in damage.

The season officially begins on June 1, and ends on November 30.
