1 Dead After Rescue on Mount Hood

One person has dies and several others were rescued after becoming stranded on Mount Hood in the state of Oregon on Monday.

The one death occurred after falling several hundred feet on the cliff. The victim was airlifted.

Rescue crews assisted the remaining climbers back down the mountain.

Climbers used their cellphones to contact emergency officials and report the hazardous weather conditions.

Mount Hood  is located about 80 km east-southeast of Portland, on the border between Clackamas and Hood River counties. It is Oregon's highest mountain.
