$45 Million in Insurance Claims from March Storm

The total is in and it is huge.

Back on March 11, 2017, Eastern Newfoundland was pounded by hurricane force winds that caused damage unseen by many residents.

People lost roofs, traffic light were turned into flying projectiles, and police were warning people to stay inside.

The fierce wind also knocked out power to over 70,000 people.

Insurance companies says damage claims that was taken care of by insurance add up to $45 million.

Amanda Dean, Atlantic vice president of the Insurance Bureau of Canada, says that this event is defined as a catastrophic event.
