Yellowstone National Park has offered a $5,000 reward, which doubled to $10,000 by a wolf advocacy group to find the person(s) responsible for shooting a rare white wolf.

Park officials at Yellowstone had to euthanize the animal after they found it severely injured in the northern edge of the park, near Gardiner, Montana.

The wolf was 12-years-old and was the alpha female of a group of wolves. There were only three known white wolves in the park.
